Hi, long time no post from me as I got rid of the P38 a long time ago.
Got myself a 2004 Vogue a few weeks ago and just had a go at the pixel fix. Worked like a charm 1st time and I'm so proud of myself I have to tell everybody lol.
Did the job by replacing the ribbon cable and ordered bulbs at the same time as a few were out.
The cable came with instructions for an E39 BMW but its basically the same and a link to a few videos detailing the steps involved. Best advice I could give for anybody doing this is to read the instructions and watch the video clips before you start then have them on standby while you do the job.
A bit fiddly to strip the clocks down (I thought so anyway) and a lot of guesswork as to the location of where to drill the hole required to remove the LCD, I got it wrong on all but one of the 4 screws but 2nd attempts are completely hidden once everything is back together.
I concentrated most on the cleaning of the contacts and lining up the new ribbon and took my time which paid off as I managed to get it right 1st time.
Anyway, a couple of pics and to anyone too scared to DIY, its not that bad of a job and the dash stripdown is a doddle. STart to finish, probably 1 1/2 to 2 hrs work.
