How about a step by step on how you did it ? I was planning something similar if less ambitious for my 96,if I ever get the engine back in it...........

basically mate stripped it all out, laid a sheet of 12mm ply down and scribed it to shape. and then built up a frame of more 12 mm ply 205mm tall in box sections then fixed it all together made sure it fitted, drew round it on to the base. and then laid a map of silicone down sat it back on top fixed it down.. reinforced certain parts. and then made 3 lids all with pianno hinges and a couple of holes cut out to be able to open them. carpeted the top, laminated the end. ordered 3" firm foam, cut it to size again and got an old lady to cover it with the same material as my seat covers.

Hi,

Just seen your 'bed' conversion - I am looking to do the same in a Discovery 1. I see you are located in the South East, as am I. Any chance I could have a nosey at what you did sometime? :)

MPower - as mentioned in a previous post - am just going to start this same project - if it was possible to come and view your handywork it would be appreciated.......?

Cool, I did similar in my Disco 1 (although it didn't look as good as yours). But mine was split in to 3 comparments, the front was full width for camping chairs and bags and general stuff for packing when camping and the rear section was split in to two, left for stove and cooking gear and the right for recovery kit.

All that let us take all the kit we wanted and still have enough room for the four dogs in the back

Only just seen all te posts on this!

Im just short of six foot best way to sleep is slide both seats forward then tilt them forward and put your pillow on the back of the chair

yeah been used quite alot and with the foam matress its bloody comfy! sleep like baby!

No curtains as of yet just thinking of the bestway to do it,i would use a window cover but the front side windows arent tinted unfortunately. so am going to attemp some sort of flexy curtain rail.
