You may be able to manually select 5th gear but it's the electronics that will decide if the shift takes place.

As I said earlier (although the 8 speed) it will change, when doing manually it sort of takes it out of auto for a time.
When that times out it then goes back to auto mode, and could potentially just change down again.
We only notice it when towing, and without breaking the speed limit have to change it manually. It will then hold it and be fine but any slight extra load and it will drop a gear.

Most of us just want you to go ahead and do it & report the outcome after the trip.
I was not offended by one word, I was offended by a whole series of attacks over several days by many people.
The point was that the belittling started from the very beginning from the very first word.
If that word had been the only thing that had been said in a patronizing way, then I would never have responded in the way that I did.
I didn't even notice the word at first, it was only when I looked back that I realized that the first word said was patronizing.
The one word itself was not offensive, it was the entire tone of multiple comments.
I don't care what most of you want me to do, why would I?
Why would I care about a bunch of people that have done nothing but attack me and ignore what I say (or even worse twist what I say into gotcha comments) when they have no actual knowledge of the situation, as proven by their ridiculous comments?
So I don't care what you want.
Which is why I will either do it or not, and if I do it I will not come here to tell anyone how it worked out, because I don't care about you.
And if I did come back here no matter what happened, I am sure that there would be multiple people telling me that I was lying or criticizing me by picking apart every single word that I said looking for gotcha moments.
But I guess you think that what you want is so important that I should be giving into it?
Anyway thank you for one more gotcha comment that failed.
Please feel free to troll through everything that I have said here and try to find something else that you can catch me out on, but fail again.
Because remember, this place is not for people to ask technical questions about their car and get valid answers, it is about a bunch of egotistical losers trying to put someone down to make themselves feel better.

So many words with so little meaning plus a one month trip in view. Must be retired or a politician to have that amount of spare time. If retired, then from an age when swapping bit on cars was a simple thing to do. Not so now with all the interlinked electronics controlling what happens.
