Well it certainly wasnt a cheap project. We all know how much galv chassis & galv bulkheads cost:eek:

But I saved up over the last few years and I'd like to think Id get a fair chunk of my money back if I sold it to someone who really appreciated Defenders.

Thanks for the nice comments:) Wish I could sit back and enjoy my landy, but a set of new door handle gaskets arrived in the post today, so all the door lock linkages have to come off, just so I can get the door handles off:doh:

you can manage it without taking the linkages off, i did it! cant remember how but it was a bit of a pain. better than taking linkages off tho!

With a galv chassis and bulkhead and all the other new parts, it's as good as - better than - a brand new Defender, especially having a proper engine in it :D 300 Tdi infinitely more desirable than a Puma, so think how much you've saved yourself over paying £30k for a brand new'un. :)

You have done a excellent job with no stone un-turned, you should be very proud!!!

But as we all know there is always something else to change/upgrade (waste money) but that's why we love defenders IT'S OUR HOBBY!!!!

'Kinell! That's very tidy mate.. congrats;):D:D

Thanks Buster. Your guides and advice really helped throughout the project. So add yourself to the list of those that helped. Oh, and have one of these on me.....

Nice!
I am planning on doing this hopefully this year!

Galv Chasis+Bulkhead
and Repaint.

out of interest how long did it take you?

ive got enough, although probably gonna respray myself, not to bad with a spray gun, although gotta fix my bulkhead first :/

Wish I was handy with a spray gun, sadly Im not! You'll save yourself a lot of wonga by spraying it yourself. My respray cost £1600, but I wanted it done profesionally seeing as I wanted metalic paint, and the expense id already gone to on the chassis etc.

Id saved up for the respray a few years ago, but then spent that money on the new chassis, so I had to wait until I had saved up again to get it sprayed. But I then spent my savings on the galv bulkhead, so had to save up again. And so it went on.....

Didnt take me anytime at all, cus I paid others to do the work:D. Had to though, its my daily drive and couldnt afford to have it off the road too long as I needed it for work.

The bulkhead/chassis swap took Paul at Richards chassis two weeks to do. The spray shop had it for about 4-5 weeks:eek:. Dont know why it took them that long:confused:. But I spent endless hours learning how to remove all the parts ready for the respray.

Blimey!

I was planning on doing it all myself!!

My brothers a Panel Beater/Sprayer. so he's going to spray it up for me a panel at a time as i do the chassis n bulk head swap.

I was hoping 6-8weeks with just evenings and weekends.

Me on my own most of the time, but i will bribe my spanner friendly mates with beer n pizza as often as possible!

Its an investment not and expense :D

At least thats what i tell myself ...

Very true:D. In fact Ive had an agreed valuation authorised by my insurers (Lancaster insurance) for much more than I paid for it. Now the work is done Im gunna try and increase the agreed valuation even more, if I can.
