Just wanted to share my experience today. Thought my Freelander might need new brakes. Took it to Columbia Rover for a check and oil change. Since I bought it from a Toyota dealer, I figured I better get it checked out.

Brakes were good, still 75%. Yippee!

Found out Freelanders only use synthetic oil. Something I did not know and hope that if Toyota did an oil change they used the right stuff. Got the change today anyway, just to make sure all OK.

They did a Vehical inspection and the head mechanic said "this is the best kept Freelander I have seen in a long time". Yeehaw!

He did find that someone had put plain old dime store coolant in the reservoir. So instead of the brake job I expected, I had them flush the whole system and refill. Ended up costing about the same.

I did spend some time talking to the Service Manager and found out the Brittain sent all the crappy Freelanders to North America. I feel very lucky that I got a good one. No hating here, just sayin'....... He did say that the best Freelanders are the diesel 5-speeds in Europe.

So, at the end of the day, I am very happy and feeling great about my Rover. So Freelander owners rejoice, be proud and don't let anyone ding ya for a Freelander.

:p

Good for you - mine has been fine so dont get to caught up in the forum. Some have had bad experiences but there are thousands of freelanders out there with little or no probs at all. :)

Like anything, you can be very lucky and have little or no problems, or unlucky and nothing but problems.
Glad you're happy though! Nice to see something positive on here and not 'somethings broken or not working...!'
