muck in the frame

Hi,

I've got an electrical fault in my TD5 defender 90 somewhere that I've already posted on here and got some tidy advice (thank you). Today, while having a tinker, I was following the loom under the car and can see that it goes inside the frame. Putting my finger into the frame, I can feel that it is full of sandy muck which would doubtlessly hold a lot of moisture and not help my electrical issue.

I can't think of a way to clear all of this much out of the frame so here's my plan: it's parked on a slight slope, so if I put a hose it the higher end and see if a moderate flow of water will rinse all the muck out through the existing drain holes in the frame, that should do it. Does that sound as if it could work or is it the most stupid thing that you've ever read? I will accept criticism!

When I flushed my chassis out a few years ago, I used a drain jetting attachment on my pressure washer. The attachment is a very long skinny hose with a nozzle on the end. There's plenty of access points on the chassis to do this, also removing the front bumper gives access to the dumb iron parts. And plenty of drainage points along the chassis.

A piece of fencing wire with a bend on and poke it into every hole in the chassis and wiggle it about then keep hosing. The muck usually blocks a few holes rusting out the chassis on all the low points

I was able to pull the wires out inspect clean & rewrap after getting all the sand out of the frame.
A hose works fine flushing out whatever.
