Decided to ease off the pedal a bit and drive more like an old codger. I usually get about 29 mpg which I thought was ok. Next fill up worked out at 31.4mpg which proved that my more laid back driving style works, then...next fill up worked out at 34.8 mpg:eek:
Thats in my td5 with 76k on the clock and driving mostly on A roads with about 50 miles on motorway. I was Doing between 55-60mph on motorway (knowing that the most economical speed is 56, and sticking rigidly to the speed limits on A,B & **** roads.
The chancellor is certainly a proper knob, but at least he's given me the incentive to think more about not worrying about getting from A to B in record time and save some money.
At over £100 to fill up I should think so too!!

Had my 2003 Td5 auto for about 4 months now, checked my mpg last night, came out at 19.4mpg:eek: (not good),mind you thats mostly on steep winding country lanes, some of which is with a 2 and a half tonne trailer attached.
Still love it though:p

Hope youve got deep pockets :D Funny how people have been complaining of low mpg recently with td5 yet others seem to be getting good economy

My TD5 is terrible and always hovers around the low 20's even if i drive like an old codger.

Its a 2003 es auto. My thought is the autos are just way thirstier.

Are the people that are getting good returns using manual boxes?

Mines a manual

Manual 300 tdi running on bio 1 micronned + Rapeseed svo 50/50

Best has been 40 ish driving like a coffin dodger.

Standard driving 35 ish

Hammering it 25 - 30

Change yer filters every 5000 regardless or sooner if cloggs:cool:

That guy gettin free wvo is it filtered???

Have a Auto TD5 and over about 10 tankfulls I have been averaging 25-26 round the doors ( Hills all the way round ) and made 30 mpg on a run recently ( fully loaded driving at steady 60). I noticed biggest improvement when I gave her a full service and removed EGR just after I got her , as I was only managing 22 - 23 before this. Although I have made a conscious effort to ease off on the loud pedal and anticipate what is up ahead, basic stuff really. All in all I'm very happy with it.
