Moving Cruise Control on Classic

'94 Soft Dash Classic 3.9EFi Auto
Hi folks wondering if anyone ever moved the steering wheel mounted cruise control?
Soft dash with SRS/airbag steering wheel, changed to springs so the SRS unit bypassed years ago and caused no MOT probs, quite fancy fitting my wood and chrome steering wheel from my old 3.5 classic BUT my cruise works and I use it regularly especially when towing my caravan.
Thoughts include;
running wires to new switches on the dash as to save the orignal wheel intact
getting a scrap wheel and removing the switch part to mount on the 'new' wheel or column
Any thoughts folks?

Other things to think about will horn and indicator cancel and connection maybe to the rotary coupler.

There’s only three wires involved and connected at present to two non-latching press switches so easy to replicate if not using the existing switch unit, possible use a CC stalk that can be found on some vehicles, attached to a suitable bracket, could require a bit of searching your local scrap yard if that still allowed

Boss and after market wheel from my old 3.5 hard dash so have the horn push and cancel ring already, hoping they will be the same, haven't taken the airbag wheel off yet so not sure if the cruise switches are intergral to wheel or as you suggest trip to the scrappies and cutting a set off a scrapper or from something similar, just wondered if anyone had attempted something similar in the past.

No idea if there is a date involved but according to the MoT manual:
7.1.5. Airbags
This inspection is for all airbags fitted as original equipment other than on Class 3 vehicles.
A passenger airbag that is switched off is not a defect.
Defect Category
(a) An airbag fitted as original equipment obviously missing Major

The side airbags on the P38 are past their use by date

Hence not wanting to chop up the exsisting steering wheel, a) should I want to return to 'original 'spec and b) in case I have to bung it back on at MOT time!
