motorised steering wheel problem

a mate of mine has a td6 rr and it has started to play up. basicaly the steering wheel has stopped in his driving position and does not park it's self when the ignition is turned off. he has power going to the motor, and can hear a relay clicking on, but nowt happens.
he believes that he needs a new motor assy, but is wondering what the cost is, any ideas? or does anyone know a quick fix
