Afternoon,

Did try Googling it but came up with a few hundred suggestions,

Need to either patch or replace rear x member and a part I can identify,

Whats the top section called that the seal fits onto ?

both are like that all the way along so kinda guessing easier to replace then patch

Rusty ? not there ?
Just cut it out and patch it most discos i look at have a patch there manufacturing inbuilt defect, mine is the only one i have seen that hasn't got rust here not even rusty bumpers and must be the only un welded 1995 300tdi in existence thats a every day used motor a credit to the previous owners who have simply re shultzed it every year. Shame it came to me in a mechanical mess needing a top end rebuild axel rebuilds abs rebuild etc etc don't think had been service for some years !!! But i seen through the knocked mechanics because a good chassis and body are hard to fined mmmmmmm
