MOT - Success

Just had my Defender sail through its MOT with no advisories what so ever.
Well thats a first especially as I did absolutely no checks before presenting the vehicle.

Tester thought his smoke machine was broke as it only registered 0.25 on the clap-o-meter whatever that means. Previous car was showing 3.1 which apparently is a fail for a pre 2008 diesel turbo.

I am one happy bunny. Well at least until the tax and insurance are due.

yup, 3.0 is the fail point, mine got 2.9

Good one, Shifty, nice when they go through like that, usually a sign of careful maintenance.
Mine usually goes straight through, although sometimes they give and advisory cos I have a plywood floor in the back, apparently this means they cant see if the floor has rusted through

was that on waste oil or diesel

id cehck yer oil though, sounds like it might have run out seeing as "oil leak" seems to be an advisory thesedays.

Not sure if that's to me or shifty, but there are no oil leaks on mine, it is parked on a cream carpet, so I would know

My back thinks it is!

No leaks, tbh there was a tiny one from the seal around the oil cooler stat, but I put a new seal in when I changed the stat a while back

Previous to that was a weep from swivel housing, new seal dried it up, didn't need to change the ball.

No oil leaks on engine. Rear transfer box flange is slightly wet as is steering drop arm but not enough to drip or affect oil levels yet.

Only corrosion on mine is one of the rear corner cappings that the lights fit to and the bottom of my doors. I've got the new capping to fit and am looking into repairing the doors next year.

Got one of Pressbrake's rear crossmembers fitted and the rest of my chassis is perfect.

If only all MOTs were as stress free and cheap.

My last MOT I got three advisories re corrosion. One for each door(!!) and then one general one, due to the doors.

mine was, I just bought the landy then put it in for mot and it passed, I hadn't even looked under it till it was on the lift at the mot station lol
