After working on the vehicle for the last 4 weeks, i took it to the MOT centre this morning and wohay! It passed with flying colours. The tester commented on how solid it was and about how tight the rest of the car was. Little did he know what a teabag it was when i got it but its always nice to hear someone compliment, he did ssem to know what he was talking about and it turned out hes a bit of a Defender geek.
I then went on to list all that had been replaced/ carried out since i got it.
Replaced:
Rear crossmember with a Blacksheep item-awesome
Front bumper
2 rear outriggers
2 rear trailing arm bushes
Rear number plate light and indicators,
Towing socket and wiring
Transfer box oil seal
Full service (Timing belt not done yet)
All oils including gearbox with MTF94
Repaired
4 seized brake calipers,
Rotten rear door
removed rear spare wheel carrier
Heated rear screen wiring
Rear wiper wiring
Seized Diff lock linkage/switch
Fitted new roof aerial and a DAB radio
Weller wheels
The landy had been idle on a friends farm for the past 5 years and was only used very occasionally offroad so its great to have it back out again. The MOT centre in Northern Ireland is slightly different to UK as it is Government run and it can be a really tight test but its a relief to have it under the belt now.
