Sooo, got the front and rear diff guards, steering guard and a couple of extra UJ;s on order from Paddocks, still haven't started on the storage yet as my roof rack has been delayed in manufacture by MCS 4X4 which according to them will be ready on the 11th Jan for me to collect from Yorkshire. I do however still have the front springs to change and the shocks to do and replace a front hub with a snapped bolt in it, plus numerous other jobs I need to do and then forget all about them. Hows everyone else doing?

Just ordered a 40 litre water tank to go under the rear wheel arch passenger side - still lots of broken bits to repair after the last trip. Trying to rearrange the load so there is not a permanent lean to the driver side.
For our trip in April how much water in storage should we carry, excluding the bottled water I will buy along the way?
Well my 90 is on the road. Few things to sort like new brake pads and the filler on my extended fuel tank doesn't fill but on the whole it is generally done.
Starting to plan the racking for in the back, have found a website that sells the army water carriers and wolf boxes a bit cheaper than normal so will get some of them when I get paid.
Still not sure where to put the hi lift jack. It would be out of the way on the roof rack, but is quite a heavy thing to put on the roof.

I'm trying to keep the centre of gravity down, though I will have the roof tent on which won't help things...
There is actually a decent amount of space in front of the roof tent so I am wondering what to put there.

I take 60 litres of bottled water - buy none and return with about 20 litres - but most take much more than this. With the tank I will take about 30 litres of bottled water.
I doubt the high lift jack will be needed - never seen one used on the trips. As far as tyres are concerned I put a second spare on the roof but with no rim to keep the weight down and just in case.

I'm taking one spare and one of those tyre repair kits.
I'll prob take 40l of water in containers, then buy some bottles in spain.

Already bought two spare wheels fitted with cooper discoverers, got a sort of deal when I bought six, so I'm resigned to bringing two spares up on the rack.
Going to maybe have a bash at fitting the cb over the weekend at some point in the roof console, and run a aux lead from the cb output to the stereo input, just going to need a long lead so it can run under the headlining, down the trim by the windscreen and worm its way to the stereo so I don't have cables swinging about. I'm not going to have anywhere to mount the ariel just yet as the roof rack is where I'm mounting that.

A cb is still on my list. Need to get the aerial and bracket and cabling for it. And also decide where to put it. None of the brackets I have found fit the roof rack, so not sure where to put it.

we calculated we needed 1.5 liters of bottled water per day. We took all ours with us from France. Don't recall seeing many places that sold it over there when on the trail. We also took 2X 30 liter containers which broke as soon as we went off road. We lost half the water but it was still enough. The containers we had had taps, not a good idea as they broke off.
Regarding the Hi lift jack. I have dumped mine. Don't know if its just me but I find the Defender keeps falling of the thing. I never want to see another one again. I had to use it on the way back when I had a puncture on the motorway in Morocco. I have loads of dents on my Defender caused by the Hi Lift jack. I now use a normal oil filled type.

Don't know if you have come across these people. They have various attachments for aerials and I found them very helpful over the phone.

Looks like you must have been well and truly bogged down there. I don't like to think of your Defender broken. Letting the 110 Defender side down.
Yeah, they were the ones I am looking at. The problem is that the bars on my roof rack are square rather than round so none of the mounts look like they will fit.
Got my stereo fitted today, which seems to work nicely.

My roof rack is square and i got one from them.

Its been on the roof rack for about a year now without any problems. You will have to run an earth cable from it to the chassis.
You think it would fit this one? I can't see any one that would fit.
