more floor bores and other chores

Looked at all the search and link results,very informative,printed off a good few for further ref....yes,you guessed it,the ES auto sailed the MOT......apart from the boot floor.....

funny cos "apart" is the bit I need advice on.I know about drilling out all the spotwelds but what are the other options?Chop the panel out close to the lip/ledge,then grind back to the good stuff and expose the missing bits for replacement?Or,if the lip looks bad,cut all round above it and make a whole fresh frame outa box or angle?And what about the seatbelt mounts...are new ones available/advisable,or do I try salvage the old,condition dependent?

On the whole I got a pretty good idea of how to put a floor in,Im just a bit at sea about taking it out!Anyone got any practical experience they would share?Please?Soon?

You may find this interesting. I can't weld so I had to work out another way of doing it. It has since passed it's mot with flying colours.

Re the rear seat belt anchorages on the boot floor, they actually pass through the floor and anchor onto the chassis. The link pins are difficult and expensive to get hold of, so do try and save them at all costs.

UPDATE.....

well,right or wrong,my mot bloke wanted the floor welded in to manufacturer spec or better and (of course) patches continuously welded.I did all the prep,got the britpart panel and crossmembers,prepped them for welding then had a hell of a job finding someone to mig it who didnt treat me like an idiot or try to rip me off,or both.Eventually found someone in bodmin,£30 an hour and hed supply the metal for the three patches needed and under shutz spray it (I know,funny,but the mot fella wanted it done) so three hours ish.

Anyhow,the lad did a nice job,I whacked the seat belt mounts back on (getting them off was a day of hell) and got a retest yesterday evening....PASS!

Nice one guys,now onto the 96 manual with the sheared off bolt in the block!Thats gonna need a heap of welding after standing outside for a year!Time to bite the bullet and get my mig stuff sorted.....
