Anyone fitted Monroe shocks?
Just curious what the increase in clearance would be (if any) so I can work out whether adding a lift kit would mean other work would be needed, i.e. wheelarch trimming and brake pipe extensions

If you are keeping the standard wheels and tyres then you shouldn't need to trim the outer arches. You may need to trim the inner wing, where the steering arm comes through though.
I'm thinking I might do a more subtle 1" lift on my V6. I don't want it to roly poly in the bends.

Yip. Monroe Aventure & +30 mm Dobinsons springs. Not extended lines, no inner wing rimming in my case . (about 10 mm free space when suspension dropped)

Not needed if not exceed 40 mm on suspension lift. Below you can see a stock brake line at suspension full travel

You can as long as you don't go for the +30 springs, the shocks are just standard size, but are a little softer as they're designed for Overlanding etc, John (Matacaibo), the guy with the winch, has them and a Bearmach lift.

Cool so what springs would be ok?
I'm assuming I would need bigger ones...
 
You can use a standard ones if go for lift kit.
Of course if you don't have and don't go for a 150-200 Kg of additional equipment ;D

Well I was also thinking of SES special exhaust and (when available) sump guards but being ally I don't think they'll be quite that heavy!

But I have to find the right car first! And that depends on my client coming up with the readies, which tbh could be any time over the next month or so.
 
At the moment I've got no exhaust guards left, sold my last one a few days ago, but if I get more interest in them (more than 1-2) then I'll make more.

As said, standard springs will be fine, you'll probably get a lift from them too as the old ones will have sagged a bit
 
18 months ago I went to Matt,my local Freelander breaker.He had a body shell on the back of a low loader. It had a full set of Monroe suspension. I asked him what he was doing with the suspension and he said I could have it for free as long as I could get it off myself- in half an hour- as the driver of the low loader was going to weigh the shell in. Needless to say I never managed to get them off,just not enough time spannering with the shell on the bed of the truck and no room to manouvre.
