Just wondered where you guys that have series V8's get your insurance from?

I keep getting plenty of quotes around £100 then as soon as i say its not standard- its a V8, they say its modified and the price shoots upto over £400:eek:

hiya mate can i ask how old you are i'm having the same problem i'm 22 i put a v8 in my series i have wrk van to insurance thats dear enough so need cheap insurance for landy cheers

I insured my standard 109 with Sure-term. I was dissapointed that they put lots of clauses in the small print. It cannot be used to travel to work and had to have an engine immobiliser fitted, limited mileage and £150 with 30 years no claims. I think next year I will do a bit more shopping around.

got a quote off them before they said £198 0 no claims £350 excess better than most been quoted £5-600 alll i need it for is to get to meet etc when you tell most its modified and then your age then more or less hang up!

Have you tried Adrian Flux? Both my aprents have modified Land Rovers/ Range Rovers and it hardly makes any difference in the premium. But then they are probably quite a bit older than you!

I'd jump at 400 quid for insurance. Trying to get a competitive quote on a v8 RRC SE AUTO VOGUE at the moment. 1240 is the best I've got so far :D

Sorry for the delay in replying you lot but here goes;

I am actually 40, the age does seem a benifit but the companies seem more bothered that "its an old land rover, and, why would you want to change the engine?"

I have tried Adrian Flux, but they were one of the dear ones!

Sure term sound worth a try....

I have got NFU Mutual coming back to me at the moment, they sound as though they will insure me as i have my td5 with them and business liability also, but yet to put a figure on it!!!

If they come back with something reiculous, i shall try sure term.

Thanks for the replies, Pete.

Sorted!

The NFU finally came back to me with fully comp, £153!

Could say im chuffed........in fact i went on the beer to celebrate!:D
