When removing a wheel from my project the whole stud came out rather than the nut coming off. How will I refit a new stud or should i just use the stud/nut combo as it is?

This kind ?

some of those did that on my s1, the nuts were so rusted to the studs i just ditched em and bought a fresh set of studs and nuts from some landy parts dealer on ebay, no doubt all the big suppliers have them.

Used a good bit of grease to make sure they didn't rust up again. so far the nuts have been coming off normally.

mine were like the top pic in dr evils post.

at the time i got the impression from the s1 club that it was not an unusual event.

i put the grease on the nuts only, not on the stub part that went into the wheel bit in case it found its way onto the brake linings

you don't need to get the drum off, i was checking the brakes at the time, the whell cylinder on that wheel had failed.

I didn't take any studs off that were left on the wheel as normal, i only replaced the ones that came off with the nuts.

if you do need to take the drums off and they won't budge as mine wouldn't, invest in a sealey 10 inch puller, mine came off easily with that like a knife going thru bertolli spread.
