This might be a silly question but iv'e just changed the engine on my series 2a V8, it had strombergs on before but now with the new engine it has su's and i can't remember which way it is to turn the mixture screw to weaken/richen
Could someone please refresh my memory :der:

Cheers

on su carbs winding in will weaken the mixture winding out will ritchen it. or at least it did on my rover v8. austin mini. austin 1300vdp.maxi etc.

If they are HIF with the float bowl under the carbs then remember to srew in to richen the mixture (screw in to put more fuel in)

The early carbs with the float bowl on the side and the mixture screw underneath is up (in) to weaken and down (out ) to richen

Just tweak them until the engine runs at its fastest on idle and adjust throttle stops to bring idle down again.:)

Thats what I said!

just ignore sloby rob he is a wind up merchant :p

Just done a Google and found this. If this is the type of SU we're on about here am I still a wind up merchant. :p:bounce::D

Tuning - Single | SU - The SU Carburetter Company

Forgot to say, if it's the old type of SU take the dashpot and piston off, turn nut under carb anti clockwise till jet is flush with bridge, then turn nut clockwise 12 flats, re assemble and adjust as normal.
