The land of the almost free :)
After working on the old bus for a year and spending lots of money, it got through its mot yesterday. Yeaaa.

The nice mechanic asked me if I wanted a set of alloy wheels for it he had lying about. A set of boost wheels needing a refurb. Yeaaa again.

Put them in the back of the bus and caught my finger between them. So painful I couldn't even speak.

The pleasure and pain experienced was a first.

So how about you lot, any similar mixed feelings where your obsession with old rusty cars are concerned?

Couple of weeks or so.

Did a similar thing a couple of years ago rummaging through the scrap steel at the stockholders.

Mine looked the same. The nail fell off after a while, you have to be really careful not to knock or catch it when it's only just hanging on, cos that's painful. The new nail grew underneath and was a funny shape for a while but that grew out eventually. It felt a bit fragile for quite a few months even after it looked completely back to normal.

I've lost 3 nails so far and All before I was 18. 2 of which were an instant off. OUCH! On the plus side. Nice not so shiney wheels and a pass!

If you go to the practice nurse at yer Doctors surgery, she'll put a hot needle thru it for you - it'll let the pressure off ...

I reckon you've cracked the bone at the end of yer finger tho... :D

That's just your Landy warning you it's quite happy with steel wheels and doesn't want any poncy boost alloys.:boink: They have a heart you know:D

Do it yourself. My brother in laws a GP & I rang him for advice after doing something similar. The pressure behind the nail was keeping me awake. He told me to stick a needle in the gas flame and do it yourself or sit for three hours in casualty....

I must say I'm a bit sceptical of all this needle through the nail malarkey. Speaking as someone who has regularly hit my fingers and thumbs with hammers over the years I have lost nails on a number of occasions. At the urging of an acquaintance who fancied himself as a bit of a Steve Irwin type I tried this. a) it hurts, especially with a tender finger and b) it doesn't work - things carry on hurting and the nail comes off sooner or later anyway. If it's keeping you awake just have a few Nurofens for the first couple of nights and it will settle down eventually.

I did this with my big toe! Hurt like a bastard! Fell off after 2 or 3 weeks and grew back really funny the nail that is...now its ingrown! Youre luck its your finger
