the hole is probably wading hole which you would bung when wading only, if there’s leakage from around the head then it’s more than likely head gasket gone, put some fairy liquid in a bottle and pour it over the aria when engine is running this should show if the head is leaking

Not up there it isn't...

hole is a drilling made when cam bearing oil feed was made through to oil galllery ,normaly blocked with plastic plug or silicone, look at rocker cover gasket first

by the looks of it you have deposits above the head gasket on the head its self. check your injectors leakoff pipes and rocker cover bolts. Best way is to use an engine de greaser wash it off wait till dry then run it and you will easy find where and what is leaking.

Check your cyclone breather aswell. they always tend to leak some. If you don't know it's the plastic thing sticking out of the rocker in the center.
good luck with it.

Thanks guys I'll get on it first thing, got new oil cooler pipes on order too as the top one is leaking at the union. Also have a uj to fit and prop donut, she's definitely having a moment is the old lass.
