series 3 2.25 petrol starts fine but is flat undedr load. after 30 mins the engine tries to die at idle and only way to rev it is softly on the throttle. engine then dies usually on a muddy green lane and wont start again for 20 mins. LT lead from the dizzy looks ropey where is slots onto the points and sometimes wobbling it makes the thing start again. i know this needs to be fixed and will fit points and condenser next weekend but do you think this could cause the flatness and stalling then unable to start for 20 mins. i thought it was fuel - flooding weber carb. the LR is great but this is letting the experience down. can anyone help? what about electornic ignition would this be a good conversion?

yeah but why does it get worse, why doesnt it ice up from cold. what can i do. is there an air inlet and filter housing to suit a weber other than a k&n cos i assume thats the problem although i still get the same outcome without the filter fitted.

The ice builds up the longer you drive.

why doesnt it ice up from cold.
Cause its not Iced when cold, as you suck air through the carb it cools it and causes ice to build up.

what can i do.
If you have a electric fan fitted? switch it on as this will blow warm air in to the engine bay.
Check if the vent / valve between the exhaust manifold and the inlet manifold is working.

I have had a K+N and weber for two years now with out any problems.
