Mirror issues

Hello,
I've just had an issue started with my door mirrors on my RangeRover L322 2012 Auto, When I select reverse both mirrors should dip slightly and turn a small amount in towards the doors! Mine does this fine with the nearside but the offside does exactly the opposite ie raises and returns to normal when reverse is selected and then goes to the reversing position when drive is selected.
Has anyone come across this before? any help much appreciated.

I know on P38s with that function a lot turn it off as in owners manual save potching about - temporary fix maybe

Yes I have seen this before disconnect the battery and put a metal link like a long screwdriver between the negative and positive terminals without touching the battery to hard reset the car leave it disconnected with metal between terminals for 15 minutes then reconnect battery and test

I meant if you hold a certain button in it will turn off the mirror dip function ; it will be in the owners handbook for the vehicle.

No it needs a hard reset the door modules have got corrupted and need to be reset it may be in handbook how to store position but reset and they should work fine

Thanks for the info. This re-set will not affect the engine re-map which has been done will it? also there is a You Tube video showing this being done in which they used (I think) a resistor in the wire they used to bridge the positive and negative cables, Have you come across this or is a simple cable bridge in order?

No I have never used resistor or even heard of a resistor being used if you take both battery terminals of the battery and without any terminals touching the battery put a piece of metal between the positive and negative terminals and leave for 15 minutes then reconnect the battery and test

Can I interject something very important....

Place this piece of metal between the battery leads when both disconnected from the battery....

DO NOT under any circumstance, place a piece of metal between battery terminals....

You’ve got it wrong place the metal between the battery leads not the terminals of the battery

I will post pics tomorrow to make it clearer

Who's got it wrong....cos it certainly isn't me, I suggest you read what I have written and also what you had originally written!....

I know you know what you are doing, but reading your post back makes it sound like the metal is placed between terminals (as that is what you say) ..... there are fecking idiots in this world who would do just as it is written.....whereas the metal should be between battery leads.....

I agree after reading my post back I can see what you mean I will attach pictures tomorrow to make it clearer

if anyone reading this thread thinks that disconecting a battery and then bridging it's terminals is going to sort a problem with the electrics of their vehicle shouldn't be poking around trying to sort their car leave it alone and pay someone who understands a disconnected battery is what it is...

I did understand what was went by bridging the wires (not the battery) but as it turned out I did not need to do either!! I altered the amount of movement to let me see the kerbs and afterwards everything worked as it should.
I have another issue which has started recently, when switching off the engine, the access option (steering wheel lifting and seat lowering) has ceased to work. The manual calls for the steering wheel electronic adjuster leaver behind the steering wheel to be placed in the "automatic position" for this function to operate but mine will only return to spring loaded centre position so what is meant by "automatic position"?

You twist the adjustment knob to select auto or manual and it should latch into the selected position

Thanks for that but my adjusting knob will only rock up and down and side to side ! There is no option to twist it either way !

Do you have the owners manual it will be in there. Perhaps it was not fitted to your vehicle as there are different options. I purposely selected my vehicle due to lack of memory seats/auto dip memory mirrors, argued it didn't have it when buying but didn't want it - less to go wrong

Thanks for the reply, Yes I have the owners manual which says put the steering wheel adjuster into "Automatic position" but I have no switchable positions other than the four steering wheel adjustment options. I know that I have the feature fitted as it used to function fine ! As I bought mine second hand I have to live with what it has !!
