hi all
im the new guy and a bit of a landy novice
im saving my pennys and scraping the cash together to buy a landy
it wont be a new one because i cant stretch to that
but i have noticed that the military sell off load of the surplus stuff
110s and 90s was just wondering what you thought of them
surly they must be well serviced and maintained by the army etc
i have also heard you should not buy the radio van type ones because of the hours the engines have run static is this true????
 
The old it's been run for hours static is generally not the case. They will be run 10 mins in the hour to keep the batteries topped up. Slobs point is well made, becuase of time restrictions and a general lack of Landies available at any one time as soon as there is any doubt about the condition of an engine it will be changed whenever possible. Last thing you want is a failed engine when some arse is pointing a bang stick at you.
 
YEP! The panels might look bloody awful but all the important bits will be well-looked-after. The only ones to avoid are those that were with the royal Marines, because they like driving through the sea with 'em. Salt water and LRs don't mix too well.
 
You can get them just demobbed, and they are an absolute bargain, or you can get a refurbed one for something like £6000ex vat!!!!!!!! the refurbed ones can be outstanding, i had a look at one at l jackson( www.ljacksonandco.com/ ) and it was absolutely stunning, though i thought 6k was a bit much for a (very) basic f-reg 90
Though beware, i've a mate who's a vehicle mechanic with the forces and he works on landys, he reckons, when they have one up for demobbing, they take all the decent bits off it, and replace them with the bent bits from several other vehicles so as to keep the best bits for themselves, and get rid of the knacked bits

I suppose its like anything though, you just gotta be careful
