Rich, a quick google search came up with the following

510 GL SECT [RECCE] - Reconnaissance
150 PRO COY RMP [Royal Military Police] https://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/150_Provost_Company
3 RMP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Military_Police
DSG Vehicles Longmoor - Defence Support Group

and came across this link for UK military abbreviations
https://assets.publishing.service.g...e/227048/acronyms_and_abbreviations_dec08.pdf

and page 18 here is an interesting read for Military Landy owners

Thank you for that! I was too tired and bleary last night (still am!!)
Great stuff!

and thanks to @flat for the original link!

I might have driven the OP's landy when I was based at Blandford between '94 and 96!

haha cool, anything you can tell me about it would be interesting, or any photos of it in service :)
I am not particaulrly into the military landie scene tbh, i just brought it as it was good condition. But i like finding out its history!

It has 'BGSUMT' stencilled on it, which i understand means 'blandford garrison, support unit, motor transport' but what it actually did i dont know

That Merlin site is good but only works up to a certain release date. I presume they will update it every so often so if wolf landys don’t come up they may do in time. Even my Sankey Wide Track came up.

Nice, what was the rebuild? Life extension program?

That's the one, here's a document showing the things they did,
But mine seems to have had a replacement chassis at some point which isn't part of the program.
Had my MOT the other day with a new tester, he finished (passed with 0 advisories) and asked me why it was in such good conndition underneath :D

You know I wonder if mine had a new chassis as it was that good. All factory stampings still visible and in that black factory finish.

I wish I had the paperwork from it’s life, I have found so many new or recon parts on it from panels to switches.

A friend of mine used to be the boss of an infantry regt MT section and he told me that they had a maximum budget per vehicle and once it hit that it was sold off as surplus. He didn’t tell me the figures but said a new vehicle could be in a smash and need a new engine and wings and lots of bits and that would be done, but then would get a minor damage next time but have no ‘budget’ left to repair it so it was surplused. So as long as the vehicle had money left in its ’own’ pot then it would be repaired no matter what.

Don’t know the details or how it worked, can canyons comment?

The only thing I would say is get the actual full merlin print out of you can, my readout on that website is short but the merlin print out is 2.5 pages long!

What makes me chuckle with Merlin is that it states colours as **protected data**. Surely, by now, the world knows that the majority of UK military Land Rovers are Olive Drab, Nato Green or Nato Green Gloss...the enemy only has to look for little green mechanical blobs, take aim and fire. Unless, of course, they happen to be sand/grey pink and have a habit of attacking just before dawn ;)
