I asked this in the military forum, seems no one at home.........
Does anybody know (I'm sure you do) if 109 front springs are the same for petrol and diesel on a military chassis or are the petrol ones lighter as per other series 3's.
Thanks
RJ

I don't know but my 109 is a military one. It began life as a 4cyl petrol and now has an enourmously heavy 3.3ltr Perkins diesel, it sits level and has no lean or sag to the front and it has its 2" military lift. The springs look to be old and could be orginal, its dark now so I can't count the leafs but there are quite a lot. I would say there's a good chance they are the originals in which case they are very firm. The same goes for the rear; even with a lot of weight in the back it never seems to sit lower, all the extra load seems to do is improve the ride!
