I only ever use the top 3/4, always fill up at a quarter or there abouts,,

Dont want the crap from the bottom of the tank getting flushed through..

Average fill up = 44.44 Litres
Average Cost = £66.21
Average PPL = 149.5
Average distance = 271.42 Miles
27.8 Mpg average for the year..

So if I was to run it as low as I could
360 miles would be about my limit..
The pump picks up from the bottom however much or little fuel is in the tank:rolleyes:

I filled up today. Not great. All those 1-2 mile journeys (or less!!). 27.6mpg, 62.9 litres (in a 60 litre tank?) that was to the first click!

380 miles since last fill up.

im getting a constant 350 to a tank but was getting nearer the 400 mark last summer I think diesel mpg goes down when its cold my audi tdi has dropped from 46 mpg to 41 mpg on the obc since the summer.its still a huge improvement over the pajero 2.8 I had previously that only managed around the 20 mpg mark .all this is town stop start driving

Thanks everyone for your feedback it's much appreciated.

Only another 120 mikes to go til I hit my target 400. Currently on 280 miles and just above half a tank of diesel so keeping my fingers crossed I can get there. :)

Crikey... I've just recorded 39.6mpg and I thought that was shocking! My worst yet!! But it did involve cruising around looking at houses in Newport, and being parked up at the Baneswell Express while I bought some booze, so someone probably stole some. Normally I get 42mpg at this time of year and 45-6mpg in summer. Best was 597miles a tank. You knows it....

Have you fitted the 'Flintstones' mod to your Freelander to help fuel economy?!

Not sure if the Td4 ones are oiled.
K&N filters I've used in the past have mentioned about spraying some oil on them after washing them, the one that arrived for the The instructions that came with the Td4 filter only mentioned washing, allowing it to dry, then refitting.
Maybe K&N decided not to oil these filters for the sake of the MAF?

All K&N filters use oil. It's a gauze and cotton filter that uses a sticky oil to literally stick the dirt to the outside of the filter.
There can be some oil mist drawn off the filter, this can upset the MAF. Luckily on the TD4, the filter is large so air velocity through the filter is low, this helps keep most of the oil on the filter.
I've seen VW diesels have there MAF's trashed by filter oil. However the filters fitted to those were less than half the area, obviously air velocity through the filter is much higher than the TD4 would produce.

Since having the thermostat replaced I am getting about 520miles out of a tank.
Before the replacement it was close to 400miles.:clap2:

Another bonus is the car now heats up.

I just filled up at 360 miles..... 55 litres or so.... 30mpg.... Too much driving around London.

I have a long trip up norf next month, 600 miles each way, so I hope that will be slightly better!

Having ran my freelander since beginning of January I can get to and from work for 2 weeks circa 401 miles and it's still got 1/4 of a tank left. I'm averaging 38-40mpg and generally cruise at 55mph. Looking at everyone else's response I'm pretty pleased with that as it cuts down on my fuel bill :D
