MIG welder advice

Evening all.....

Can any of you out there recommend a good MIG welder for a restoration project ?

I'm a time served welder but I've not bother welding for about 15 years & the DIY welding sets you could get then were basically ****e. So, any good recommendation for makes & models ,before you all start-welding set models

. Looking part with around £200 ish queen heads.

no good me giving you my recommendation for a first class mig welder then, £200 would get you the volt/amp meter you would need another £1200 for the machine. even 10 year old second hand ones fetch far more than 200 quid on ebay.

i bought a nice sip 150 amp mig and gas bottle off ebay for £75 they are bargains to be had just keep your eyes peeled

ive got a sealy 180 amp one thats good fo most jobs was a bit more than 200 quid tho

Buy a new one mate, there is a few bits to go wrong, fookal in a stick tho. It's an investment I always say so go for the right tool or you will regret it, so spend the dosh and get a decent mid range one. Use the argon mix gas, it's better than pure co2

at work we got a sealey 150 and that will do most stuff on a landy. will do chassis stuff piece of ****. think that was about £190 to replace our old 200 amp mig.
I was welding 5mm steel with it the other day and it was penetrating right through that so you shouldnt need much more.

fook me thats cheap it costs more than that at cost price from sealey!!!

ive been looking at a clark te 151 150 amp £270 ish
picking one up from the hire shop to try next weekend before i buy it

was on offer at a local tool shop plus we got the vat back so yeah prob shoul have been about 250.
My sip 190 was about 340 5 years ago, thats a brilliant welder, done everything from mini body to 3/8 plate!
