A few months ago i got a new clutch in my disco. After that there was a sound of metal scrapping at 2600 - 3000 rpm.
Now i have it allso on 1800 rpm
It is with all the gears and all so now without any transmissions ( gears)
what can it be

if noise happens during normal driving under load it can be bearing outer races spinning in case ,evidence can be grey/black metal filings in oil and on drain bung ,this happens to some extent to all 77s and r380gearboxes unless outer races are loctited in,but can get severe if noise noticed and would want fixing sooner than later ,as it occured with clutch change could be poor release bearing ,the center thrust face can move across and hit outer part or just poor part ,bearing never clears clutch fully when pedal up so can spin all the time

sound is now coming without load ( no driving) neutral gear only
putting down the accelerator to 3000 rpm then the sound comes allso
