Is the pivot for the high/low lever bolted to the bell housing flange the right way round? Its possible to put it on the wrong face of the flange it bolts to and limit the lever travel as it fits both ways. It goes on the way that "looks wrong" which doesn't help. I mean part 219709

good point

I was staring up at the mechanism this evening, just not seeing what could possibly be wrong. Six feet from me were the old boxes with that bracket still attached in the right place.

Having had the main box out once and the transfer twice in the last four days, you probably don't know just how much I've been doubting myself.

I bought a landy a while ago that had the same problem with the high/low lever and the bracket was bolted to the wrong side of the bell housing bracket . easy fix when you work out whats wrong

All done, sitting in man's most feared waiting room at the MoT station. I think this is the first series I've driven with synchro working. Lovely.

Thanks for the help chaps.

tis allways the way for most of us,you can get so focused you miss the obvious in front of you, ive a friend that pops over for a fresh look when im in that situation and i do it for him :)

I guessed it was this because I did it when i refitted my box late at night. Went over and over it then looked at pictures on the web. The trouble is it looks "right" in the wrong place and looks "wrong" where it should be.
