If you remember, I was challenged by my inactive air suspension after the alternator change a few weeks ago. Well fair play to the dealer who was over 2 and a half hours away, he sent a cheque back in full for the work agreed. Honest garages do exist! Enough of that ....

My car is now out of warranty and despite our bumpy start together (air susp still not working, going to check out Charlies idiot guide later on), I absolutely love this car so looking around, self diagnostic machines are the way forward as I've been to the village garage five times to have mine reset - damned evap valve over something blah blah.

I have read and read about diagnostic machines for hours on here and other website (shame on you, how very dare you) and it's honestly a minefield. I know RSW comes highly recommended but to cover everything it looks like you need the All Comms and EAS unit. I've seen one called a Bearmach Hawkeye and another from Britpart. Grrrr, it's a minefield. Now as I'm now 40 and my hair is thinning more than a little, can anybody help me tearing out the last remaining strands I have left. Talk to me like a moron, I don't care but please help!!!! In an ideal world, I want to read/reset faults, sort out my air suspension and ideally program a second key as I don't have a spare. I read one of the machines does this but after reading so much stuff I can't remember which one it was.

I await any Guru's advice.

Oh 2005 4.4 LPG Vogue by the way in case it doesn't come up in my profile. I've another little ditty to post soon as well which is a crazy gearbox related one

RSW Solutions All Comms = Will read and clear faults, re-calibrate the EAS and do basic vehicle setup options (Day running lights, Steering Wheel position memory etc) is not locked to one vehicle, requires laptop to work.

Bearmach Hawkeye = Limited Vehicle setup options if at all, no EAS Recalibration but will read and clear faults, locked to one vehicle by VIN number, No laptop needed.

Omnitec Lynx = Mixed Reports on functionality, no confirms on the L322, No Laptop needed

GAPDiagnostics IIDTool = Capable machine, no laptop required, is used on the message centre on the dash so this needs to be fully working with no missing pixels, Will recal the EAS and do vehicle setup options, I think it is VIN Locked.

Mongoose = Never used, not sure if it is L322 compatible, Laptop required.

Faultmate Extreme MSV2 by Black Box Solutions = The muts danglies, will do everything including program second key, will give you complete control (almost) of the whole vehicle systems....pricey and VIN locked but well worth it.

Get the all comms mate its brill !!!!!

Thanks for quick replies chaps. All Comms seems to be the favourite of the people. Will it do enough for me not to have to bother with the EAS module he sells as well? I don't mind forking out the difference if I'm sure it will do everything that I need.

Thanks again.

Yes, the All Comms will do the EAS system and also recalibrate the ride heights too.....

The All Comms is a very capable and brilliant device!

As Saint.V8 say's, Allcomms is good and getting better with updates.
Faultmate is the way to go if you have the cash, or I think Nanocom is available for later L322's.

Ant, I have a hawkeye and it's 'unlocked' to the L322, you can buy unlock codes for other LR models (I.e Disco 2/ Freelander etc) but it will work on any L322 not just mine IIRC.:)

hawkeye is definitely not locked to one vin on p38. mine does all p38 engine variants. used it on my 4.6 v8 and sons 2.5 dse :behindsofa:

Nice to know someone local has diagnostics for the P38 if I ever decided to get one :D

;)
