hello to all,

My beloved rangie classic has recently been damaged pretty badly after a fire in someones flat above it threw molten plastic and a set of windows on top of it. Problem is its hard to find an estimated value for a 1992 range rover classic, its a lovely car and i wonder if anyone can help me out?

many thanks

if its for insurance purposes, you need to find similar vehicles on autotrader, ebay and in the autotrader mags. find the best ones and use these prices to get a guide. the insurance firm will offer you a price, for example £1000, ask them where they got that valuation. as they take it from parkers/glasses guide usually. tell them you have found several a considerably more than that and give them details if req'd. tell them you won't accept thier offer and want the car restored to pre accident condition as is your rights. note if the third party denies responsibility it may take a long time to get it all sorted. if you wish to claim on your insurance then its slighly different i think they can offer the cash instead!!

i got 1925 for an escort that i paid 1275 for, the fella said 'it's had 7 owners and done 68k miles' i said that was irrelevant as it had been owned by mature people who had passed on the service history and reciepts for work carried out. that fecked him right up!!!

thier first offer was around 1500, but i told him as the car was fully comp and it was not my fault i will seek full repair and keep the 08 plate courtesy car!! vw passat 2.0 tdi sport (nice mota!!!) for the duration of the case!!!

he backed down after a chat with his 'manager', i got me cash and bought me p38!!! plus a couple of grand for my suffering!!!!
