Depends on the grease with it's viscosity/ heat/pressure properties.

It's marine grade grease designed for bearings on boat engines and trailer wheels etc that are likely to come into contact with water. Ideal for landrover wheel bearings.

you can if you get suitable grease and ensure all old grease is removed not all greases are compatible, this may help

In that case it seems fine. Marine grease, to me, can mean a number of different things I had access to over the years.
