before and after pics :D

grille isn't fixed at the moment - no I won't go diriving until it is - I do have a badge to put on it, not as impressed as I thought I was going to be but I still think it looks better than the plastic one.

I presume the 2a had those little fittings at the bottom for the grill to rest in?

I was thinking of doing the same myself. I trawled google images to consider options but I have the headlight mesh grills too and I wasn't sure if on mine it would look like a rabbit hutch on wheels. I was thinking about painting my headlamp surrounds too like the older ones.

I think yours looks nice - will look more complete with a badge on it too.

yes 2 u shaped channels

Looks much better I think without the L plate...the plastic grille just speaks volumes about BL at the time...great colour scheme by the way

thanks chaps, think I will keep the maltese, the l plate isn't for me btw and will be on for at least a year and a half when all the kids should have passed, there will be a time when it will have p plates as well as l :D

I know what you mean about the rabbit hutch :D I don't think I shall bother with the headlight mesh ones, when I get round to painting it the surrounds are going to be the same as the main body

thanks, sounds just like the s1 front that has the 2 things at the bottom

I've seen similar on a Series 3, with plastic channeling (if that's the right word, I'm a few beers in!) attached to the apron panel and painted

actually just got another bonnet with the spare wheel attachment, isn't a skinny one though, eventually will lose the back door and fit the gate and flap I bought a couple of years ago so I can go topless in summer

There were a couple of the proper brackets on a stall at the Newbury show. They wanted £10 for them. I believe the Series 3 front panel should have the mounting holes there already.

Maltese cross grilles were going for over £100 five or so years ago.
Wonder how much now?
That was what I paid for mine pre covid, hate to think what they are now.
I know it is an old thread so OP is not the one asking, but to get the correct look with the maltese grill you also need to paint the headlight surrounds body colour as they were on the 2a and fit the earlier style mirror arms. Then we whole package looks more correct.
