Up **** creek.
wheres the best place online/mail order to get some magnecor leads for my V8 and are they worth paying extra and getting instead of buying normal/performane leads? They have a 10 year guaranty but do cost over £100:eek:

on a 300bhp race tuned engine - yes there worth it

on a disco - deffo NOT worth the extra money!!

they work by carrying better current to provide a better spark. so for them to work you need a decent coil, oe spec isnt good enuff. at the other end you need plugs capable of providing a stronger spark, NGK wont do it.

anything on an engine that is 'performance enhancing' will only work as part of a complete upgrade. a K&N air filter/induction kit will only work if its fed with cold air and fitted along with a free flowing exhaust system, even then your 'magic K&N filter' is only worth 1 or 2 bhp.

Bosch leads sets are good quality, as are the Champion branded ones.

Unbranded are questionable.

Magnecor are good if you are on gas I have heard, but I have no practical experience. £72 plus VAT for the non-racing type of lead set.

On your sparks issue, I'd change the plug leads AND the distributor cap, and buy a branded product again, don't go for anything without a name on the box, or anything not boxed come to that. There's a huge amount of 3rd-world produced kit out there that motor factors just love the BIG margins on, but it is poor quality material.

Lucas or Bosch, stick to those brands and you won't go far wrong. Land Rover will sell you the original fit equipment, which is probably Lucas in your case.

Where can i buy these from? cheers:)

Price up a set of OEM from LR and then price the Magnecors. You may be pleasently surprised.
I have Magnecor Blue on my D2 V8 and when they were fitted....and that's another story of fun and lost skin......for the first couple of seconds after start up the engine was revving about 100 rpm more than normal. The ECU was learning the higher performance of the new leads. It soon slowed down to normal but it did suggest that it was getting a better spark with the Magnecors than the old leads.
I bought mine from RPi.
