Hey,

My 2005 TD4 struggles to start from cold and when it does is very lumpy until warm and then the white smoke stops and it seems to tick over fine.

Also when pulling away in first or going up a hill in second its very sluggish until the turbo kicks in.

I've blanked off the EGR, changed the air/oil/crankcase filter and added a strong fuel cleaner but nothing seems to have worked.

Its showing no faults on the diagnostics machine so running out of ideas.

Im thinking is the MAF sensor faulty or is it the injectors. Both look clean and the injectors dont sound like their tapping. The car drives fine when up to temp and above 2000rpm

Any ideas gratefully received.

Rob

Check for leaks on the vacuum circuit. But it's almost normal for the TD4 to be slightly sluggish first thing in the morning. Mine is a but sluggish too, but I'm used to it. This sluggishness seems to affect auto's more than the manual box FL1.

Clean and put back the original EGR see if it changes anything, also check all vacuum hoses from the EGR and to the turbo solenoid, you could also change the glow plugs.

PS nodge beat me to it. :(

thanks mate,

I cant see or hear any leaks anyway. Engine looks clean to be honest and injectors sound ok.

THink ill just have to get use to the sluggishness and my neighbours the smoke in the morning!!!

The EGR blank has made no difference The vacuum house look ok and cant seem to hear any leaks or anything. Glow plugs have also been done.

Thanks

Try disconnecting the FBH pump in the rear wheel arch see if it helps, I know they are not supposed to work or kick in until 5c below, but they can be faulty on the PCB board and throw up silly faults, just a suggestion, also you will not need it until winter in a couple of months time:D
