Noticed that the nearside headlight was having problems basically when the stalk on the steering wheel is put in the high beam position the RH headlight goes onto main beam but the LH doesn't. Put the stalk into the dipped position, RH light dips but LH side goes to high beam. Decided to investigate - checked the plug that goes onto the bulb and sure enough it was half melted - fitted a new one at weekend m- problem was stil there., Fitted a new relay today and lo and behold problem is still there.:confused:

Would appreciate any advice

PS have checked through previous posts but could not find anything similar to my prob.

many thanks
Jack

Wiring reversed at some point by a previous repair ? Put the wiring on the faulty side right by copying the side that works - try cutting the wires before the plug and putting in male/female crimp spade connectors so you can switch it around easily . Do it close to the plug . Or just cut plug and crimp on female spades .

Thanx Shocker - will give it a go tomorrow - looking at some of the other wiring there appears to be a lot of bodging - looks like the immobiliser has been by passed and very crudley - there is a cable that has been patched in under the steering wheel that has a spade connector crimped on that is fitted direclty into fuse 3 in the lower satellite fuse box (Engine management system) the other end leads to the solenoid on the back of the fuel pump AAArrrrggghhhhhh

That'll be to energise the fuel cut off solenoid when the immobiliser doent . Energise , that is . Scotty....Jim ....Bones.....Enterprise.....

Have tried swapping wires over at headlight - still getting the same probs - RH headlight on main LH headlight dipped. LH headlight on main RH headlight is dipped. Cleaned up both earth points and still no joy - am starting to lose the will to live now.

All assistance, guidance, help whatever is greatly appreciated.

Beam me up Scotty
