Hello all,

Thanks to some useful threads on here I have managed to fit some power fold mirrors which are working great most of the time.
On the odd occasion the drivers side does not fully fold in and further research suggests that this can usually be fixed by lubricating the motors.
Ok I thought, silicon lube in hand...
How do you get to the bit that needs lubricating? I can see what looks like an access panel on the underside but cannot persuade this to come out so I am guessing there is another way in.
I removed the mirror glass also but still unable to get at that pesky little motor.
Any advice greatly appreciated...

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Freelance, they seem to be OK right now so I will leave them until they start playing up again.

Hey,

Was wondering are they easy enough to fit and was there any modifications required or rewiring ? I have just electric mirrors on my 2004 but not folding ones and have contemplated getting these fitted.

Was it just the HSE models that got the folded mirrors ?

It was not that difficult in the end.

The parts needed are:

A relay like this LAND ROVER FREELANDER POWER FOLDING MIRROR RELAY 2004 - 2006 | eBay

A switch like this LAND ROVER FREELANDER 1 98-03 POWER FOLDING WNG MIRROR SWITCH ADJUSTER BUTTON | eBay

And a couple of folding mirrors.

The relay fits behind the glove box and the switch is a direct replacement for the current one.
I would recommend fitting these first to see if all of the wiring is in place.
Once fitted put the switch in the centre position and push it down. If you hear a click from the relay then you are good to go.

You could get the proper wiring looms but I just pulled two wires through from the connector block in the foot wells to the mirrors themselves.

There is a useful link on here somewhere which better describes it. I will try to find it and link to it here.

Oooops, hope this is OK...

The post I found was on another forum... retro fitted power fold mirrors.

Hope I have not breached the rules by linking this, sorry if I have.

There is also another one on here (landyzone) where some clever so and so hooked it up to the remote locking so they close on lock and open on unlock.
