Hi all,

Can anyone tell me why my gearbox fluid on my LT95 keeps moving to the transfer box.

If I run around for a few hundred miles my gearbox is low and transfer box is overfull.

Whats the solution? ta
 
Thanks James. Can this be done in situ or is a gearbox out job? I might replace my clutch in the summer so I could do it then if it needs the box out.

A common joke is that the integral transfer box is so called because it just transfers the oil...

Have you checked the drum for a nice oil coating?
 
Drum looks dry on the outside but I've never taken the drum off so I can't say if it's seeping inside. It does leak out of the front prop output.

you need to remove pto cover and snap ring and input gear from mainshaft then seal sleeve ,seal can then be prised out , whatever you do dont let mainshaft move forward once snap ring off otherwise rear thrust washer on inside of gear box will drop of ledge on mainshaft and its a near impossible job to get it back in place
 
Thanks James. Perfectly clear. I'll have a go when the weather clears up. Is there any tricks to keeping the shaft back? or is it a case of just making sure it's not pushed forward.

pushing gear stick forward and holding ie bungy cord ,but mainly the latter

As James says for keeping the shaft from moving forward, but do you have any problems with the box jumping out of hi/lo on reverse, with maybe an associated clunk ?
 
No other problems apart from the fluid transfer. Its a bit hard to get out of gear on a cold morning but I put that down to the oil being thick. I use 20/50 in it.
 
Hi all,
I'm just about to take on this job. To save myself the headache and just to clarify. Do I need to stop the shaft pushing further into the box. Or stop it coming out of the box towards the back of the car?
