Going fast from reverse to first when rocking when stuck is minutely faster in the lt77.

I have an lt77 recon box in 2008 and it's excellent. It is a bit agricultural though, I found the r380 a bit smoother in the work vehicles

Just completely obliterated an R380 box and clutch, got some pics if I can work out how to upload. The only R380 I could get to replace it came out of a defender so had to trim down the selector arm and fit my original disco gear shift assembly. I don't know why but in the disco the R380 is a nice smooth box but in the defender I some times drive I can only describe the gear changes as "agricultural", my disco is now suffering the agricultural side of life until I can refurb the old box. The R380 has been around a while and became the standard rover 5 speed box, Ive got one in my TR7 sprint.

I have a disco R380 box going spare and woulkd consider a straight swap for the Fender box if it's still useable in a fender.
I've had to put the fender box in for now but I do have a spare r380 off a 94 plate fender, came from a breakers on the understanding it was a good box. The input shaft on the earlier fender box is a lot shorter and thinner than for the td5 so if your running a 200/300 it should be ok. Is your disco box td5? It comes with a bell housing but no transfer box and you'll need to put a gear shift handle on it as the original has been gas axed off.

def and disco are identical boxes bar the selector shaft you cut and yoke ,if gear change is poor it will be poor baulkrings,

Fender & disco box's are the same until the td5, the input shaft is longer and thicker, if only it was the same for me. it could well be the bulk rings, the box ive just modified apparently had 44k on the clock and the fender I drive at work about 150k and both appear to be as bad as each other, the only thing is the fender's got a much longer stick to get the selector through the gates, who knows?????

they are identical in td5 form too(def and disco),though as you say input differs between td5 and 300 tdi,,bad selection will be baulk rings

My Disco Box is a 300TDI. out of an R plate motor. But I have a 96 300TDI 110 now and I'm looking for a box to recon. for when I do me chassis swap.

As this has popped up on live,

I've sourced a good LT77 for the 110 and it'll be going in when I do me chassis swap, & the current R380 will be getting reconned. Probably by me.
