Hi,
I recently picked up a 200tdi 110 for a engine upgrade from my 2.5na, the 110 was a barn find that has stood since 2013.
We turned it over by hand a few times then fitted a battery and she jumped in to life straight away.
Anyway I have the wheels off it (on axle stands) and have been giving the engine a run just to see if any leaks occurs prior to swapping it.
I thought I would give the Gearbox a try( the clutchslave cylinder doesn't work) so had to start it in gear, no problem started in 1st then went through all the gears all seem fine except there is an awful noise from the top of the Transfer box, ( to make it sound louder for the video I had my foot on the brake)
Do you think this sounds like the splines are going or gone on the Gearbox output shaft?

that or a bearing, remove the pto cover and have a look

I'm no expert but output spine wear more likely to give you a clunk on taking up drive. You can take the PTO cover off and check for wear. You can also check if you've got a cross drilled input gear via the serial number on the box.

One of the resident gearbox experts will most likely give you some advice
