Hi all,
I have a 2003 D2 with approx 180000km. This modelyear doesnt have the centre diff so bought a used box with it that I want to swap. It looks ok but I'm thinking about rebuilding the 'new' one. I'm no expert but reckon i may as well give it a go. After reading various bits online...how can you tell if a bearing is knackered?

On a separate note, my D2 has a whining noise kinda like wooowooowooo whilst going 70-80mph on motorway...is this normal? I have a UAZ469 which also makes a similar noise (bur at lower speeds).

Cheers

it will have a center diff but not the diff lock mechanism or front housing to accept it, worn bearings will be evident by free play or rough rotation, t/box has 3 gears as such input .intermediate and center diff ,each is supported by taper roller bearings and as such should have no play/end float
