Lpg Mpg ?

We are thinking about buying another Disco, which will be the third we have owned.

However, with the price of Fuel going through the roof we are considering a Petrol Disco, with either an LPG conversion already carried out, or carrying out an LPG conversion.

We need a 4x4 because we live in a remote area of Wales, and a 4x4 is quite frequently the only vehicle that can get us into town or home during bad weather. We currently hav3e a G Reg 90 Defender, but no finery..ie PAS etc.

So its another Disco....

What kind of MPG can we expect from a Petrol Disco, thats been converted to LPG ?

If you're talking about a V8 engined Disco, the very best you'll get is the same as on petrol - but each ltr you burn is about half price. So that means you'll average maybe 15mpg !!!!

Go for an up to date multi-point injection LPG system or you'll lose power.

I've just aquired a 2001 v8 disco LPG, never had a disco before but I'm dead please so far ( 2 weeks )
Checks on MPG are quite encouraging,found knocking about town , lots of stops 'n' starts produced 10 MPG, however took it on the motorway, did 135 miles and checked it out at 33 MPG.
, In real terms this means 66 MPG ! I'm sure my checks were accurate but I'll continue checking as I can't quite believe it from a 4 litre V8 pulling a heavy vehicle,motorway speed was 60 ish mph and easy on the pedal.

Flamin 'ell! I'd do yer sums again mate. Or was half the journey on the back of a recovery truck?

Hi Phil, that sounds great, in particular the motorway figures of course.

What you wil probably find is, like for most of us, if you cruise much above 60mph, the aerodynamics of the brick-shaped Disco, start to take an enormous tole - at 80mph, your consumption is likely to increase to more like 15mpg !!!

Keep the cruising speed down and you'll have happy pockets

I'm getting about 18mpg on petrol in my Disco II ES - expect about 16 mpg on lpg when I convert (using the example of my 4.2 Range Rover which is already converted - does 17 mpg petrol/ 15mpg lpg). With the price difference of lpg this makes for considerably cheaper running costs over either petrol or diesel

We have just got another disco but this one is a td5 7 seater.

Today we went to somewhere outside newport and My figures are for today is 22 mpg

We had six adults, 1 dog and 4 mountian bikes on a rack so I owuld say she was farily loaded.

The other half has reported on her normal drive around to work and back, short journeys anyway shes getting about 24 mpg.

it makes me smile because my good old 200 is just a little better
