Hi all,
I've seen quite a few lpg kits for sale second hand on fleabay for around 200 notes.
Couple of questions,

1) how easy are they to fit and set up? (do you need any special software to set up?)
2) are there any underslung tanks available? I really don't want to loose the wheel well or boot space if I can avoid it.

With lpg at under 50p a litre here, it really would make sense to have it.

Installation is simple....
Software required from the LPG manufacturer to setup the injection settings, switch over etc....
Underslung tanks are available, but you would not be able to fit them on the P38 as there is no space unless you remove the existing fuel tank.

To retain space i nthe boot, most people use a tordial tank i nthe spare wheel well, does mean you have to remove the spare, but small price to pay, just make sure you have breakdown cover if you get a puncture!

The install would need to be done in-line with CoP11 of the LPG regulations (available from the LPG Association) but for most insurers to insure your car with the LPG system fitted, you will need to have it inspected by and approved LPGA fitter to ensure it is safe and placed on the LPG register.....cost is about £150 for the inspection.

Not too worried about the legals as it's going to be on Czech plates and insurance. I'm sure there will be some rules here about that but I suspect they'll be a bit easier/cheaper than in UK.
I know there isn't much room underneath but I was toying with the idea of getting rid of the eas tank and getting a custom one made to fit elsewhere. Don't know if that would give me enough space for the gas tank or not but I'll have a look if so next time I'm in Czech.
Don't really want to loose the wheel well if possible either as some places here are pretty remote and little to no phone signal. Not sure if the breakdown here will cover you for a flat if you don't have a working spare (recovery is included with insurance and I don't think there is any AA RAC type cover here)

Mine has a system fitted with a donut tank in the boot..

Of course it doesn't work, but it is a very tidy installation.. ;)

It also has a can of tire weld that has turned to concrete! lol

Contemplating having it removed in the future, but with fuel prices it's probably cost effective to keep it!

I'd suggest you see what systems are in common usage where you intend to keep the vehicle.
 
Personally I wouldn't bother. Have had lpg systems before and it costs a lot of boot space. Something else to go wrong
 
I have a BRC multipoint on the P38 never had a problem with it. it goes through a set of spark plugs a year I have the tank in the wheel well, the spare in the garage or in the boot in a wheel bag if i'm venturing far away from home. nails are normally picked up from gutters park 8 inches away from the kerb and avoid punctures. the only time the past god knows how many years i have picked up a nail is grom going to the tip !

the same BRC multipoint system was on the Cayenne when i got it. it was the big sell point for me
 
Hi dave she's doing very well. she's a climber so can't take eyes off her for a second or she's up something like a rat up a drainpipe.

How are yours doing
 
How difficult would it be to install a tank for your gas at home (say 2000 litres) and a pump to fill the car tank?

Surely that would be worth a punt?
 
Easy to do but illegal unless you have a metered pump for car gas

Ok, devils advocate... why "illegal" o_O

Surely you are paying for the fuel and are going to burn it creating heat (in your car) AND power for the vehicle.

Unless illegal because the filthy disgusting tory bitches want even more of your crust, not satisfied that they took your savings (pension) :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
