Hi everyone, just bought my first discovery a petrol/LPG V8 i. Went to fill up with LPG and I assumed when the pump stops the cars tanks are full, but when I got in to drive away the tanks contents display was still on the last red LED. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong ? The LPG system is Ramano and AEB . thanks .

Thanks mate, so can I assume the cars tanks are full, because the pump stopped filling. Cheers.

Hi,
I have a converted d2 and I ignore the leds, I do sometimes get 4 green when I fill it . sometimes it will stay on 4 green for 150 miles and others it is on red after 50 , as said above reset trip every time and you will get to know how far you will get.
I have twin 40l tanks which give me 65l capacity I reckon on 200 miles max befroe empty but to be honest I tend to fill up every time I pass an lpg garage as there isn't one that close to me.

mines aeb and i have it set to the aeb setting in the software, i have twin tanks, 110 litres and after the lights have gone i put fuel in, i know its not empty but i reckon it gives me a reserve of around half the capacity (worked out from filling from empty and filling from lights out!

the easiest way is to keep a quarter tank of petrol and find lpg stations before long jounreys on Get LPG - Find LPG and AutoGas refuelling stations in the UK

Thanks guys for the replies, have set my mind at rest now regards the LPG contents, will refill and set the trip switch and see how we go. Cheers.

FYI:

The tank level gauges are driven by the same float arm that provides the 80% contents cut-off on the filler.

Most have a magnet and a set of four sensors that pick up the magnet as it passes, and a bit of electronics. It is mechanically crude but reliable.

As only one out of 2 gauges are wired up (most sill tanks are in pairs) the actual contents is for just one tank, you have to 'assume' that the other one empties at the same rate.

Our own Disco 2 gauge shows full (4 led's) on fill up, but drops fairly quickly to one or less, and most driving is on the red 'empty' led.

If you think about it, the tank never gets 100% full in the first place, and the actual level is broken into 4 steps, then it's no surprise that they are inaccurate.

We know that we can get between 130 and 155 miles on our two tanks between fills, depending on driving speed etc., so set the trip at fill-up and that is always pretty accurate.

We have a local filling station, plus the road map with LPG filling points, but there are situations where, for example, the M5/M50 junction services only have it on the northbound side, and a lot of the on-line maps are hopelessly out of date. Inverness in September: 3 out of 4 stations didn't exist or had moved. We found one by accident!
