LPG and the law

Ive got a 96 V8efi that looks like its had an LPG conversion practically from new, Do you by law require the LPG system to be checked annually or does the garage do that when it does its MOT? I dont want to be driving something dangerous. cheers

I beleive (I'm sure I will be corrected shortly if not) that you have to have a certificate of instalation before you can legaly use the lpg system on the road. If you got your Landy without one you can take it to a LPG fitter and have it checked over and then receive the correct documentation. You could just use it but I think you would run the chance of voiding your insurance.

I don't think there's any legal requirement, but you insurence company may want one.
I'm sure it's not the MoTers job.

the certs last for ten yrs on the tanks, take it to a lpg installer and see what they say :crazy_driver:

There is no specific legal requirement to have it checked but it's a good idea to have the whole system checked somewhere with a good reputation that specialise in lpg to check the installation. Some of them can be poor even if they are certificated. Manufacturers recommend annual checks but plenty are not checked and give no problems.
