Hi, just recently rebuilt my v8 got it running on petrol at the min for the running in phase. Once i have done 500 or so miles will be straight back to petrol for just start up or emergencies. what advance are you guys running on with your LPG, been browsing the site seen people saying as much as 16degrees, but would still like the option of petrol when LPG is unavailable. also seen about taking vacuum off dizzy. Basically just wanna see what you guys run and found best

Cheers

Set it as far advanced as it will go on petrol by road test without pinking under heavy acceleration. In my case (3.5 EFi) that's about 8 degrees BTDC. That way I can switch between fuels without issue
Or buy & fit one of the various electric gizmos that enable you to run either. I've not tried any of them, but AIUI Tinley Tech are worth talking to.

yeh advance it to about 8 degrees so that it will run happily and blank off half your air flow because its a single point and it will cause the engine to run a bit rough because the lpg is not quite as combustable as the petrol so it needs less air but it will still be happy on petrol

On my carb LPG setup, I am running standard petrol timing and mixture. I don't know if it is the same with yours, but my LPG system has it's own mixture adjustment, so I can run the LPG system slightly richer without affecting how it runs on petrol. It does mean a slight reduction in performance compared to petrol, but still an awful lot better than a diesel.

Forgot to say that mine's through a BLOS. Soooo much better than a gas ring.

I had tipex marks on the dizzy of my old 3.5 V8, I used to advance it manually when going on LPG (or Propane in my case) and back again for petrol.

Leave the vac advance alone, as said above get as much advance on petrol without pinking under load, that is best for any engine anyway.
Mark it off and try different settings of advance on LPG till it runs best and mark again.

Shouldn't be too much down on power on LPG:)

HELP! just trying to get it to run right on LPG it wont :( will go sometimes then loose all its power like cant pull upto 20mph :/ but other times can get up to 50 with ease. I know its a LPG issue as is mint on petrol. Ive had a loom at everything no wires are not connected as far as i can see. It worked okay wen engine came out and didnt touch anything on the LPG as far as im aware any ideas?
