Lower steering linkage play. How much?

Hi folks, I hope your cockles are warm.

I have slight knock coming through the steering wheel when I go over bumpy bits of road. It's not serious, but I just wondered how much play there should be in the lower link. RAVE says "excessive play" means replace the link. Anyway how much is excessive? I can wiggle it a bit and I'm going to replace it anyway, I just need to know.

Do you mean the steering shaft? If so the answer is. None. If there is any play at all change it.

On a 2tone motor there should be no play
