low range lever not moving

hi guys
just tried moving the low range lever on my auto td5 which ive just brought,and to be honest im worried i may break somthing i would be very surpised if its ever been moved since 1999.when i drive my range rover 1992 that moves no problem.any sugestions please i know they can jam when not moved has anyone had the same problem on a second hand land rover purchase where the previous owners had never used it.thank you

Quite a common Chelsea tractor ailment.If its seized that bad the only sensible thing to do is take it apart and free it off in the vice.....

or take it back to where you bought it, unless it was a private sale.
