Pulling my 1500kg shed my 300 is appalling, gearing down does not help, holds speed better in higher gear.

Another prob am getting is grey smoke on a cold startup.

I have fitted a new lift pump and filters, checked ip diaphragm. What I have found is a fresh supply of air in the diesel filter after a run. It has no sedimenter so am I to assume that the in pipe is one single pipe?

How do I locate an air intake?

Can I safely assume that there wil be no air intake after the pump due to the positive pressure which would result in a fuel leak?

Would air in the system cause these problems?

possibly lift pump ,i often put a clear pipe in between filter and front banjo bolt on injection pump ,easy check for air in fuel at any rev ,in future too ,bleed at front banjo too it ensures all air is out

Cheers,

It's just had a lift pump, the higher quality Delphi one. I'm bleeding using the bleed screw on top of the filter housing, I'm going to bleed before startup in the morning to see if that is the cause of the smoke on startup.

Think I'm going to have to book it in somewhere to get it sorted.
