As title - DEAD! I love this car, but not at the moment . My son-in-law owned and maintained it meticulously for six years before he sold it, for genuine reasons, to me last summer. I was in heaven! It ticked all the boxes for my rural lifestyle until it died, without warning......three times......are they connected? Been at repairers for a couple of weeks now and mechanics are still scratching their heads! First time ........outside supermarket (Aldi, Saffron Walden if you’re interested! ) - car had been behaving beautifully but when I went to drive off, turned over but wouldn’t start. RAC guy said fuel pump. Son-in-law replaced said part and car started and off I drove into my rural idyll for several weeks. UNTIL.......(and is this connected or not ?)......hubby couldn’t turn key in ignition. RAC again ...low loader.....again (I’m giving neighbours a good laugh!) .....local Rangy owner was putting fear in God in us with all possible problems when son-in-law said “Have you tried the spare key?” - well, no, I hadn’t, but I’m not that lucky but I clambered in with spare key and..........it started first time! Life was good splashing my way around my aforementioned rural idyll, looking down on the minions in their Micras........until, without warning, the bugger wouldn’t start......turned over, but wouldn’t start. Son-in-law reckoned it was the in-tank fuel pump, but it wasn’t. Enter really amazing RAC guy who spent about two hours trying to sort problem and reckoned it it was the high pressure fuel pump . Low loader AGAIN and mechanics are pretty stumped. They’re trying a new sensor (when part arrives 3rd January) then sending high pressure fuel pump to Bosch to be reconditioned if car won’t start. Any of you guys out there have ideas? As my introduction, I’m a mechanical numpty so all advice will be forwarded to hubby and son-in-law! Love you all lots in anticipation of advice! X

My mate had similar. Fiddled about with the fuel pump fuses in the boot fuse box and it started. Probably slight corrosion on the contacts. Maybe not your problem but worth a try.

Has it been put on diagnostics..

Does she throw any codes?

The L322 needs three things, immediately an issue arises
1: Check the battery is as good as can be
2: Diagnostics
3: A Low-loader 41GH2D+fYzL._SY355_.jpg

In your case it sounds like you also need a friendly, indy, who won't put the fear of god in you.

In my mate's case, his fuel pump wasn't running. we checked the fuel pump fuses by pulling them out and inspecting, (they were intact) when we put them back in, it started.

Another avenue for hubby and son-in-law to check - I’ll pass on your
post to them (me being a mere woman ...............and a numpty)......thank you!

Fuel pump was replaced few months ago. Think fuses have been checked. Will pass your post to long-suffering hubby (who’s fed up ferrying me around ) and son-in-law. Just want my car back . Love it so much

Yup! Tried it on my own diagnostics computer but didn’t get any codes. RAC gave us a printout of his codes and mechanics had tried on their computer but no definitive problem

The Range Rover needs Range Rover diagnostics or you will replace your vehicle for a new one a piece at a time and it probably still won’t work. Without it you are ****ing in to a gale force wind.
Ps, the micra will be worth more than yours and mine put together in a few months ..

Range Rover specific diagnostics like the RSW Allcomms is quite reasonable and will pay for itself quickly., GAP IID is more money but better and probably the best bang for buck is the icarsoft.
You need to keep in mind the 2002-2005 TD6 Range Rover is probably the most unreliable and expensive to maintain vehicle produced at the same time closely followed by the 4.4 petrol.

Even more reason to check the fuses. They may have been fine a few months ago, it doesn't mean they are now. Again, my mate's fuses hadn't blown. It was the act of removing and replacing them which got it working and suggested possible corrosion of the electrical contacts.
